Big Dog Pet Foods

This project consisted of 2 stages, the internal fit out of the existing facility and a later (stage 2 and A dual Ante room addition at the rear of the building the facilitate the docking of five (5) individual Blast freezer systems.

The focus for this design was redundancy and as always, energy efficiency.  Each room utilises, two evaporators which, are operated by separate package unit systems sized at a kW capacity based on an over calculated heat load of approximately 35% to maintain room conditions within the critical range in the event of a failure.

Each system is fitted with a VSD (Variable Speed Drive) for capacity regulation of the condenser fans and compressor, and the adjoined evaporator units each utilising electronic expansion valves. In addition, a parametric control system has been installed to ensure all the equipment is controlled to its full potential, while providing optimal energy efficiency and easy operation for the front-end user.

Golden Falafel

A number of design changes were carried out along the way to finalise the best way forward for the client and eventually come together as a state-of-the-art facility for the Golden Falafel team.

Due to the nature of the location, the available plant area was tight, so an efficient footprint had to be considered with no compromise to performance.  To suit the space, the plant equipment consisted of (3) three single compressor racks, each fitted with a variable capacity system to match the operational requirements of the collective, and individual cooling load associated with the application.

V-Shape Condensers with epoxy coated fins and EC fans were installed in close range to each compressor unit, which was a great solution for limited space and maximum heat rejection capacity at low power consumption.

Given the different temperature zones, another design aspect with focus on energy efficiency was to have a system dedicated to each one of these zones so the operating conditions could be maintained as close as possible to the design temperatures to ensure consistently low power consumption for the plant.

HE Heathers

This site is a great example of how new technology shows its value against old technology, after frequent issues with the existing equipment due to its age and condition, a plan was put in place to upgrade the high humidity boxes with conventional evaporators suited the provide the required conditions.

Each section of the facility had to be staged and managed without any interruption to site operations or compromise to the cooling performance of the rooms in operation during shutdowns periods. With some clever planning from the team, we were able to add new maintenance access points to reduce long term servicing costs and expand the available pallet spaces in each room.

All new evaporators were fitted with electronic valves to stabilise system operation and fully utilise the heat exchanging surface area available. In addition, new high-capacity EC fast cool fans were installed to each fast cool for a further increase in process efficiency and to reduce power usage dramatically.
